The grab models used in marine generally including motor hydraulic grab, remote control grab and single rope grab. Ship grabs are certified by BV, NK,CCS, LR ,ABS. Each grab model has own merits and demerits:
Motor Hydraulic Grab
The motor Hydraulic dual scoop Clamshell Grab is specially designed for charging and discharging bulk materials and is to be fitted on cranes with one single drum (ship cranes). There are electrical motor and hydraulic pump inside the grab. The closing/opening of the grab depend on the double acting hydraulic cylinders. but the ships cranes have to be executed with accessories such as cable reeling drum, stabilizing rope drum etc . and the price is high.
Remote Control Grab
This kind of grab can work everywhere at once, just hook on and go. No need any extra accessories. Grab close by crane wire, grab open by remote control, just press the button' OPEN ' in radio transmitter. Grab volume can be changeable to suit various bulk cargo with different piled density. This grab model has the working efficiency close to the motor hydraulic grab by 80%, and with less than half price of motor hydraulic grab.
Single Rope Grab
This is a kind of pure mechanical grab without electrical and hydraulic system, to open this type of grab, you have to land the grab onto the cargo or hopper to unlock the system. To close grab with the wire cable of the crane. this kind of grab can work everywhere, just hook on and go. Simply link the long ring on top of grab equalizer with hook of crane .The grab model is ready to work and simple and reliable and economic. But the working efficiency is slow compared with other two.
